I’m working with a long-standing client in the high-frequency communications space. They specialise in RF and mmWave technologies for advanced telecoms, space, defence and next-gen sensing applications. Their engineering team develops high-performance subsystems such as SSPAs, filters and transceivers, with a strong focus on precision, manufacturability and reliability.
They are looking to add a Senior RF Design Engineer who can take ownership of RF/mmW design work across sub-circuits, sub-modules and full systems. As a Senior RF Design Engineer, you’ll work through the entire lifecycle, specification, simulation, validation, and handover into production, ensuring designs meet performance, quality and cost targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Full design and development of RF/mmWave sub-circuits, modules and system-level components
- RF/mmW specification, modelling, simulation and realisation across:
- Couplers
- IC/MMIC component selection and vendor interaction
- Collaboration with mechanical and PCB teams on electromechanical concepts and high-frequency layouts
- System line-up analysis, MTBF, thermal and derating work
- Production of design documentation: logbooks, data packs, peer reviews and release documentation
- Preparation and review of NPI/tollgate materials
- Leading and contributing to design reviews, proactively identifying risk areas
- Verification and validation: test specs, test reporting, reliability evaluation
- Maintaining compliance matrices and evidence trails
- Production-support problem solving, fault finding and defining diagnostic procedures
Requirements
- Degree in RF, Electronics, Communications or similar
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Microwave Office, CST, EMPro, ADS
- Strong background in RF/microwave system design, yield/tolerance analysis and DFM
- Experience in transceiver design highly beneficial
