Pay: £12.71 per hour + £60 per sleep‑in. Hours: 30–45 hours per week. Shift pattern: 8:00am – 10:00pm, including weekends and sleep‑ins.
We are recruiting for a Children’s Residential Support Worker to support young people aged 9‑15 within a residential care setting. The service supports children with challenging behaviours, including young people in foster care placements or transitioning from foster care environments.
This is a hands‑on role focused on creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment while promoting positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day support and care to children and young people within a residential home environment.
- Support children with emotional, behavioural, and social needs using a calm, consistent, and person‑centred approach.
- Assist with daily living tasks including housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe home environment.
- Support young people to engage in education, routines, activities, and personal development.
- Plan and participate in activities, community outings, and trips including outdoor days, theme parks, beaches, and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records, incident reports, and safeguarding documentation.
- Follow care plans, behaviour support strategies, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
- Work collaboratively as part of a residential care team to deliver high‑quality support.
Requirements
- Previous experience within children’s residential care, support work, youth work, care, or behavioural support is desirable.
- Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour is preferred.
- Full UK driving licence – essential due to transport and activity requirements.
- Strong communication, resilience, and relationship‑building skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and child‑centred care practices.
- PMVA, restraint training, or Team Teach certification preferred but not essential.
