Community Health Care Assistant – District Nursing Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Community Health Care Assistant to join the District Nursing Service in Enfield. The successful candidate will be an experienced carer, ideally holding an NVQ Level 3 qualification and experience of working within patients’ own homes. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of health professionals and informal carers.

You will work as part of a District Nursing Team, delivering high‑quality nursing care to patients within their own homes, and will be expected to provide consistent high‑standards of care to a multicultural and diverse population. You will demonstrate strong teamwork and leadership qualities, and will provide administrative and organisational support within the team.

A comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided to support you in settling into the role and developing within the team.

Main duties of the job

  • Work independently and under the supervision of Registered Nurses, providing support and undertaking agreed nursing duties.
  • Travel to patients’ homes and clinics to provide care.
  • Develop and acquire valuable skills to provide excellent care in the community.

Job responsibilities

Provide compassionate care and support to patients in the community, working alongside health and social care professionals to ensure the best possible care. Work as part of the District Nursing Team to deliver high‑quality nursing care in patients’ homes.

Person Specification

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience/qualifications.
  • Experience working with patients in a community or residential setting with health or social care needs.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive “can do” attitude and willingness to embrace change.
  • Empathy, compassion, patience, and the ability to prioritise and manage competing needs.
  • Capability to constructively challenge the norm to improve patient experience.
  • Demonstrate ability to meet the Trust’s Royal Free World Class Values.
  • Car driver & owner for business use.
