Job Description:

A local authority within the West Midlands is seeking a Technical Compliance Officer – Fire Safety for a six‑month temporary position within its Property Services Group, Property & Development team.

Responsibilities

  • Support fire safety remediation works across the organisation’s property portfolio, ensuring buildings remain compliant with current legislation and best practice standards.
  • Manage issues identified through fire risk assessments, including organising and procuring remedial works.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and coordinate with contractors, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong culture of fire safety and continuous improvement across the estate.
  • Report to the Team Leader for Technical Compliance and support the Senior Building Surveyor (Fire Safety).
  • Work independently to manage workloads, contribute to compliance frameworks, and help ensure the estate remains safe and fully compliant.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of fire safety compliance and current legislation.
  • Experience managing remediation or building‑related works and coordinating contractors.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, customer‑focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Reliability and the capacity to work independently with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Preferred working pattern: five days per week on site (support for some home‑working opportunities).
