GSL Education is seeking compassionate and reliable Care Support Assistants to support students with additional care and learning needs in Sunderland schools.

Care Support Assistant Responsibilities

• Support students with additional care and learning needs throughout the school day
• Assist students with classroom activities and daily routines
• Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
• Help students develop confidence, independence, and social skills
• Support students’ emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet students’ individual needs
• Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
• Support behaviour management strategies where appropriate

Requirements of a Care Support Assistant

• Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is desirable
• Caring, patient, and supportive approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A genuine passion for supporting students’ wellbeing and development
• Relevant care, support work, or education experience is beneficial
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
