Machine Operative – Bromborough, England (North West).

Responsibilities
- Manage Health & Safety requirements in accordance with the company’s policy and promote awareness of the H&S policy.
- Contribute to the improvement of H&S systems and practices within the department.
- Attend H&S training courses to develop personal knowledge and skills.
- Assist management with updating safe working procedures.
- Identify and report machine defects or problems to the Shift Manager / Team Leader or the Engineering Manager.
- Ensure the department is clean, tidy and safe at all times.
- Communicate with the Team Leader to plan changeovers and ensure all labour is provided to execute SMED changeovers.
- Complete job documentation as required.
- Ensure all kags are fully loaded and dosing in to blends where applicable.
- Ensure operators work safely and wear required PPE.
- Take responsibility for meeting customer order specifications.
- Operate all machinery in the department, including inline recycling machines.
- Liaise with the Team Leader and other employees to identify and assess training and development needs.
- Attend self‑development training activities.
- Assist fellow operators with machine difficulties, providing a friendly and supportive approach.
- Support the Technical Team with plant/product trials.
- Work alternative shifts as required by the company.
- Carry out any other suitable duties commensurate with skills and experience.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with health & safety issues in manufacturing.
- Experience delivering training to personnel (one‑to‑one, on‑the‑job).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative.
- Proficiency in IT, including Navision, Excel, and in‑house computer programmes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Ability to form excellent working relationships at all levels and respect confidentiality.
Reporting & Working Arrangements
Reports directly to the Extrusion Team Leader / Shift Manager. Close working relationships with senior production technicians, engineering department, warehouse managers, operations team, and continuous improvement managers.
Shift pattern: 4 on / 4 off (2 days | 2 nights) – 07:00 am to 19:00 pm (day shift) and 19:00 pm to 07:00 am (night shift).
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £29,484 per annum (non‑negotiable starting salary; reviewed throughout employment). Salary paid fortnightly.
Two shutdowns per year: 1 week at the end of June and 1 week at the start of July, plus the Christmas period.
