PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE POST

Working as part of a small team, Community Services Programme Workers will undertake sessions on the annual community based programmes, as advertised.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To help develop a varied programme based on need, community development issues and ethos.
  2. To run sessions in accordance with the planned programme, supervising a small group activity satisfactorily including setting out and putting away equipment.
  3. When directed, to act as leader in charge for sessions where the Programme Co-ordinator is not present.
  4. To work within Council and statutory health and safety guidelines at all times, and to ensure safety, child protection and other standards are maintained.
  5. To participate in staff meetings/training sessions as appropriate.
  6. Tocomplywithandpromoteequality,healthandsafetyinaccordancewith Council Policies and legal requirements.
  7. To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in various locations across the Borough in accordance with the general nature of the post.

Note:You will be part of a small team of Community Services Programme Workers employedwithintheCommunityDevelopment servicearea.Thepostholderswillbe accountable to the Community Services Programme Co-ordinator and will report to the Community Development Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

  • A formal relevant qualification at NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (relevant subjects may include, for example, youthwork,socialcare, childcare, play developmentetc.)

EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

  • Recentrelevantexperience (at least 1 year within the last 5 years), knowledge and involvement in one or more areas of work. Areas mayinclude:
    • pre-school
    • childrenand adults/parents
    • youngpeople
    • peoplewith additionalneeds
    • over50s
    • arts& crafts
    • womens or mens work
  • workwith families

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

ESSENTIAL

DESIRABLE

  • Applicants must consent to a pre-employment ANI Enhanced check with Childrens barred list
  • To be flexible with regards to working alternative shifts or locations.

  • A valid driving licence with access to a form of transport that will allow fulfilment of the duties of the post or have
