Grinder Night Shift (942172) Yeovil, England

Salary: GBP19.51 – GBP29.27 per hour

TeamJobs are seeking experienced and skilled CNC Grinder to join our client’s team in Yeovil. The successful candidates will be responsible for the grinding of aerospace components in strict accordance with manufacturing instructions, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Location: Yeovil, Somerset

Pay Rate: £19.51 p/h whilst training and rising to £29.27 once you move to the night shift

Working hours: Night shift (hours to be confirmed by the client)

Training hours: Monday to Friday 7am until 3.30pm. To begin with you will be working on a Day shift for a month or less whilst you’re training and you will then move to the night shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal/External grinding using MDI (Manual Data Input) CNC machinery, surface grinding and thread grinding.
  • OCQ – Operator Control of Quality (i.e. Stamping to confirm quality of assemblies to Company and Customer standards).
  • To achieve on time delivery by ensuring work is completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, following the process layout and documentation procedures.
  • Working effectively in a lean environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship (Desirable but not Essential).
  • Knowledge of grinding tolerances/ finishes to Aerospace Standard i.e. 0.0002” internal/external diameter, 2-4 Micro Inch surface finishes and concentration of 0.0002”.
  • Honing experience.
  • Knowledge of hand measuring equipment such as digital micrometer, comparators, air plug gauges and surface finish measuring equipment.
  • High standard of Health & Safety.
  • Adhering to Company Processes & Procedures.
  • Working in a Customer-focused environment and achieving targets.
  • Working with Designers and Engineers.

Skills and Attributes:

  • The position requires an understanding of Aerospace practice and the significance of the safety-critical work undertaken.
  • PC literate.
  • Adherence to Health & Safety standards at all times, teamwork, flexibility and the ability to use initiative.
  • Machining skills are desirable.
  • Proactive and continually looking to develop and learn new skills.

Any further training requirements will be provided: PC skills (incl. Company Operating System), Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels, 5S, and general Health & Safety.

Security and compliance: Full BPSS Screening (Baseline Personnel Security Standard), including proof of Legal Right to Work, Criminal Records Check (UK DBS), and Drugs Screening. Due to security requirements on this site all workers’ nationality needs to be UK, EU, or NATO.
