SMT Operator

£25,676 – £32,000 per annum

Pin Point Recruitment is recruiting an experienced SMT Operator to join a well-established electronics manufacturing business based in Stevenage. This role offers an opportunity to work within a modern production environment operating advanced SMT machinery.

Location

Stevenage, Hertfordshire (SG1)

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SMT production lines, ensuring smooth and efficient performance
• Set up and run pick‑and‑place machines, reflow ovens, and solder paste equipment
• Perform visual inspection of components and completed boards to IPC‑A‑610 standards
• Identify and report quality issues from inspection, AOI, or testing processes
• Install and check electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, and transistors
• Carry out hand placement of components where required
• Conduct routine maintenance on SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Follow standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and quality
• Support continuous improvement within the SMT department
• Ensure compliance with quality standards (AS9100 / ISO9001)
• Adhere to all health & safety and environmental procedures

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or SMT environment
• Good level of general education, including Maths and English
• Strong attention to detail and quality‑focused mindset
• Good communication skills
• Problem‑solving ability
• Patient, focused, and methodical approach

Desirable

• Experience operating SMT machinery
• Knowledge of PCB assembly processes
• Qualification in Electronics or Manufacturing
