About the role

Great restaurant memories come from many places. The sights, sounds, scents and importantly the food. Your passion for presentation and dedication to delivering high quality dishes will complete our guest’s experience. By taking pride in your workspace, keeping your standards high, and giving our menu the benefit of your expertise, you’ll create some of our guests’ most lasting memories.

As a Commis Chef, you will undertake a high standard of food preparation work and basic cooking under the supervision of a Chef de Partie or section chef, rotating through sections such as sauce, vegetables, fish and butchery.

Main duties

  • Cook any foods as required on a daily basis, assuring that all orders are completed accurately and promptly, according to business requirements in the most professional, efficient and cost‑effective manner.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained with regard to presentation of food items, in line with the business image.
  • Prepare the mise‑en‑place for the shift, advising the Sous Chef/Head chef of any stock shortages or requirements.
  • Conduct, record and monitor temperature level readings for all the fridges twice daily, as stipulated in the Food Safety (Temperature Control) Regulations 1995, and Food Safety Act 1990. To maintain cleanliness standards in the kitchen, fridges and freezers and adhere to safe storage procedures.
  • Operate at all times within the legislative confines of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
