Role Overview
You will be utilising your core skills as a Gas Combustion engineer, performing reactive fault diagnostics and installations associated with the company’s core activities. As the primary Gas Engineer on our mobile contract you will deliver planned maintenance and reactive tasks for a range of gas equipment, including boilers, water heaters, pipework testing, air heaters, and radiant tube heaters. The role requires managing unsafe situations via warning notices, communicating with clients on behalf of the company, and arranging quotations for remedial jobs over £500. Competence in general engineering works with a bias towards mechanical and electrical trades, full commissioning and servicing of HVAC equipment, and cooperation with contract staff to meet acceptance criteria are essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and reactive repair to gas equipment to current regulations, standards and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Demonstrate mechanical and electrical general competence.
- Quote work repairs and light installation tasks on gas equipment across the network.
- Complete a weekly timesheet accurately and submit it to your line manager.
- Submit weekly expenses with all supporting receipts.
- Complete all necessary customer paperwork on site and obtain signatures to enable invoicing.
- Fill in the engineer’s worksheet in full, noting plant requiring additional work.
- Identify lifecycle replacement requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Commercial and domestic gas qualifications covering boilers, water heaters, tube heaters, air heaters, pipework, tightness testing and purging.
- Emergency lighting fundamentals unit 1.
- Any additional trade qualifications (plumbing & mechanical).
- IPAF, PASMA.
- Understanding of SFG20 and ability to deliver works within a timescale.
- Preferred NVQ in Mechanical and/or Electrical to supplement gas qualifications.
Desirable but Not Essential
- Extra qualifications enabling further self‑delivery of the contract.
- L8 qualification.
