EMBS Engineering Ltd is working in partnership with a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Tamworth and is currently looking for a Production Engineering Technician to join their team on a permanent basis. Responsibilities

Due to internal changes and off the back of continued success, our client is seeking an experienced Production Engineering Technician to play a critical role in new product introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and automotive quality compliance, specifically focusing on proving out new CNC programs and ensuring parts meet ISIR requirements.

  • Proving out new CNC programs on multi‑axis machining centres (mainly 5‑axis).
  • Setting up the first article and initial sample runs, validating tooling, fixtures, and program parameters.
  • Identifying and correcting programming errors, making CAM toolpath adjustments and strategy improvements.
  • Optimising feeds, speeds, and tool engagement for cast iron and aluminium components to reduce cycle time while maintaining quality.
  • Ensuring first‑run parts meet ISIR requirements before production release, verifying dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T callouts.
  • Collaborating with Quality to compile inspection data, resolve non‑conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Troubleshooting machining issues, improving process repeatability, and documenting setup sheets and process revisions.
  • Providing feedback to Production Engineers for improvements and training operators on finalised programs.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment.
  • Experience proving out CNC machines for precision‑machined components.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting ISIR or PPAP submissions.
  • Working knowledge of G‑code and M‑code.
  • Experience making CAM adjustments (preferably in hyperMILL or similar, with the ability to convert to hyperMILL quickly).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
  • Experience machining cast iron and aluminium components.
  • Proficiency in setting and operating 5‑axis machines, particularly with Heidenhain controls.
  • Ability to liaise with quality and understand quality measurements.
  • CAD conversance, with the ability to open and modify CAM files for mirror parts.
  • Preferably, knowledge of Vericut (training can be provided).
