Teacher of Music – Fixed term until 30/06/2028
Kaimes School is a secondary special school located in the southeast of Edinburgh, catering for 96 learners, most of whom have autism and other additional support needs. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic music teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences from Early Level through to National 4 and to build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess music lessons for learners across all stages.
- Develop and implement curricular and extracurricular music activities that support communication, creativity, confidence and wellbeing.
- Build trusting relationships with learners, families and staff.
- Collaborate with the supportive staff team and contribute to the wider life of the school.
- Support the Base Class model for BGE learners and column classes for senior phase learners.
Qualifications & experience
- Qualified to teach music (degree or equivalent teaching qualification).
- Experience working with young people with complex additional needs, especially autism.
- Strong inclusive values and willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment requirements.
Professional requirements
Suitable candidate must complete a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check. Individuals who have spent three months or more abroad in the last five years will be required to provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check.
Salary & contract
Salary in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education. Contract: fixed‑term, 52 weeks, part‑time.
