Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Quality Manager to support major new‑build projects within the power generation and complex engineering sectors. This role works closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customer representatives to ensure full compliance with all quality, regulatory, and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary quality interface with customers, ensuring all quality requirements are fully understood, documented, and incorporated into project controls.
  • Coordinate quality deliverables across Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Project teams.
  • Develop and maintain Project Quality Plans, ensuring inspections, tests, witness points, and record requirements are executed throughout all project stages.
  • Request, review, and approve supplier Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), conducting supplier quality reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Represent the business at internal project reviews and customer-facing meetings on all quality matters.
  • Manage customer witness activities during manufacturing and ensure proper documentation of hold/witness points.
  • Oversee compliance with ATEX and PED requirements, including categorisation, conformity assessment, and documentation.
  • Manage NCRs, validate corrective actions, support root cause analysis, and contribute to lessons learned.
  • Support customer audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
  • Monitor special processes (welding, NDT, painting, lifting, etc.) ensuring approvals, certifications, and records are in place.
  • Update service ITPs as project conditions evolve.
  • Lead the compilation and submission of the Manufacturing Record Book (MRB).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of ATEX, PED, and ISO 9001.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Significant experience managing quality on major new-build projects in power generation or similar heavy engineering industries.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with ATEX and PED requirements.

Desirable:

  • HND/Degree in Engineering.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Formal ATEX/PED training.
  • Experience liaising with Approved/Notified Bodies.
