- Essential Requirements: Experience supporting an adult with complex healthcare needs, controlled medication, palliative care and mental health experience or qualifications. Able to cope with fluctuating moods. Female candidates only. Non‑smoker/vaper. Fluent English.
- Desirable: Willing to spend time sitting with the client, chatting, playing games, and working at the client’s pace.
- Start Date: ASAP
- Days & Hours: 36 hours across two consecutive day/night shifts, starting at either 9:30 AM or 9:30 PM. Flexibility in days or nights, but shifts cannot fall on Monday and Tuesday. Willingness to work some weekends. Additional hours available for sickness and holidays.
- Accommodation: Carer’s bedroom and bathroom available during shift.
Client Profile
Irene is a 41‑year‑old female with complex medical conditions including Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, Mast Cell Activation Disorder, Gastroparesis, non‑epileptic seizures, PTSD, and spinal instability. She experiences fluctuating emotions, chronic pain, and limited mobility; she resides at her parents’ house and is largely bedbound. She requires light support for personal care such as daily bed bath, light transfers, and assisted medication administration.
Overview of Role
You will provide 1:1 support for Irene during the day and night. During the night you may need to respond to seizures, pain relief, hydration or other needs. The carer’s bedroom is adjacent to Irene’s with a buzzer for alerts. Night duties are on‑call and vary: some nights you may sleep through, others may involve extended seizure management lasting several hours. Oxygen may be required from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM; Irene typically sleeps until about 2:30 PM, allowing you to rest if possible. Light household duties such as washing and ironing are also part of the role.
