Purpose

Working as part of a team, in a technically demanding aerospace market working to manufacturing / engineering drawings, work instructions, job cards, specifications & standards. Partake in MRB, review and approve work instructions / operation sheets, assist in RCCA actions, prepare, and submit FAIR’s. Work with customers and vendors to resolve issues and address questions and concerns. Work with cross function teams including production control, engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and shipping to improve quality of product.

Context

The Quality Engineer is a key role at Beagle Aircraft, with the ability to influence production staff across all areas of the business. This role focuses on how to improve processes and reduce scrap and rework through RCCA activity, feeding back to production and engineering to improve processes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintaining AS9100/ ISO9001 Quality system requirements as they pertain to the business including inspection.
  • Maintaining external accreditation bodies and internal requirements, working as part of a team.
  • Release conforming product in accordance with customer requirements (Certificate of Conformance).
  • To review operating procedures by means of monitoring and / or auditing to ensure their effectiveness and compliance, in conjunction with the company auditing procedures, including associated reports.
  • Participate in internal quality audits.
  • Champion Continuous Improvement activities required in support of the effective operation of the manufacturing areas, notifying senior management of potential areas for improvement and ultimately assisting in their implementation.
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI), development and failure investigations.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean working environment and policy, to ensure components are free from contamination and foreign objects, and consistent quality environmental and health and safety standards.
  • Assisting with the practical training of apprentices and trainees in line with Company Procedures.
  • Performing other duties as deemed necessary to ensure the effective running of the Department and Company.
  • Ensuring product excellence and adherence to Quality standards and championing a ‘right first time’ ethos across the business.

Experience and Capabilities

  • Minimum three years’ experience as a Quality Inspector/Quality Engineer.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working to aerospace quality systems.
  • Time-served with a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS-Office (primarily, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Sheet Metal, Composites, Mechanical Assemblies and Manufacturing methods.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • HNC/ HND Qualified.
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all employee levels.
  • Production floor experience in defect reduction and process improvement.
