An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and highly motivated Nursing Associates to join our supportive, professional team within the Acute Neurology Unit, Bleasdale ward at Royal Preston Hospital. This will be a challenging and rewarding opportunity for anyone wishing to further develop their nursing skills and knowledge within acute Neurology. Our staff strive to provide the highest quality of service for our patients, their families and carers, through a collaborative team approach. The role covers a 24‑hour, 7‑day service and will therefore include weekends and rotation to night duty. Long day and night shifts are expected.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional), focusing on promoting health and independence.
- Maintain proficient attitudes and behaviours that are compatible with NHS Values.
- Work as part of a designated clinical and care team, delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of each individual.
- Carry out delegated clinical and care tasks to a high standard and competency, under the supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professional.
- Contribute to the assessment, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence‑based guidelines.
- Provide patient education and health promotion.
- Support the delivery and coordination of care through appropriate professional practice.
- Contribute to risk management and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care to improve patient experience and outcomes.
- Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, ensuring seamless care.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional documentation standards.
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, the team and the organisation.
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
- Ensure the environment of care is safe, well‑equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
- Maintain and develop personal professional competence and skills within the scope of the role.
- Actively participate in the appraisal and personal development planning process as a reviewee.
- Proactively support Trust‑wide or local changes and developments in nursing practice (e.g., intentional rounding).
- Try to resolve issues and complaints at the local level and report the outcome to the line manager.
Qualifications
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
- Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.
- GCSE Grade A-C (or Grade 4 or above) in Maths & English or Skills Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications
- Good Information Technology skills.
- Experience of using clinical systems (e.g., Quadramed).
Knowledge and Experience
- Significant experience working in a healthcare environment as part of a team.
- Proven competency in assisting with a core range of physical measurements.
