This is a key commercial role focused on identifying, developing, and closing both capital and operational opportunities within wastewater treatment works.You will represent a broad portfolio of industry-leading wastewater treatment solutions, working closely with municipalities, consultants, contractors, OEMs and internal technical teams to deliver sustainable, high-value outcomes for customers.If you are commercially driven, technically credible, and enjoy building long-term customer relationships in the municipal sector, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact.Key responsibilitiesDevelop and execute a robust sales strategy to generate new business across the municipal wastewater treatment market in the MidlandsIdentify, qualify and progress opportunities from lead generation through to contract awardBuild strong, professional relationships with key customer stakeholders including Operations, Engineering, Procurement and FinanceRepresent the full wastewater treatment portfolio, aligning customer needs with the most effective technical and commercial solutionsLead complex negotiations using a win-win approach in line with business governanceOwn sales forecasting and pipeline management, reporting against monthly, quarterly and annual targetsCoordinate closely with internal teams including Applications Engineering, Proposals, Service and Aftermarket to deliver best-in-class solutionsDetermine and recommend the most appropriate route to market (direct, contractor, OEM or distributor) for each opportunityMaintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the full sales and delivery lifecycleAbout youYou will be a motivated sales professional with proven experience in the municipal wastewater sector, comfortable operating at both technical and commercial levels.Essential experience & skills:Several years’ experience in a sales or business development role, ideally within wastewater treatment or a related engineering environmentStrong knowledge of wastewater technologies, materials and municipal procurement processesTrack record of achieving or exceeding sales targetsExcellent relationship management, communication and negotiation skillsCustomer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilityFull UK driving licenceCompetent user of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Desirable:Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or degree preferred)Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Dynamics 365, Salesforce)Knowledge of specifications and contract documentationHands-on experience with wastewater treatment equipmentWhat’s on offerCompetitive base salary with performance-related bonusCompany carOpportunity to work on high-impact municipal infrastructure projectsCollaborative, technically strong and supportive environmentLong-term development within a global water technology leaderLocation & travelHome-based within the Midlands regionUK travel as required; occasional European travel may be requiredJoin the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
