We have an exciting opportunity for a Technician to join our prosthetics team in Oxford.
Our service in Oxford Centre for Enablement, is a busy artificial limb service which would provide a varied workload and opportunities to develop new skills in different areas of prosthesis maintenance. The centre has good public transport links.
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and talented team within the workshop. The role’s main focus will be to repair and maintain medical devices for prosthetics that are issued within the department to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and assemble/build medical devices (prostheses) as required by the Prosthetist according to the requirements of the Prescription or Works Order.
- Ensure that the prostheses issued to patients are functional and are delivered in a timely manner.
- Ensure that repairs to prostheses are carried out following instructions to a high and safe standard.
- Liaise with Senior Technicians and Workshop Manager to address identified quality problems and assist in providing effective solutions, minimising unnecessary wastage.
Skills and Experience:
- Clear, confident communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to build positive working relationships.
- Maintains a high level of accuracy and precision in practical tasks.
- Strong practical ability and fine motor skills suitable for hands‑on technical work.
- Previous experience of working in a workshop setting and/or medical device manufacturing environment are desirable.
Qualifications:
No formal qualifications are required for this role; however ideal candidates will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy. Qualifications obtained in a manufacturing setting are also advantageous.
