Multi Trade Operative

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £39,080.97 per annum

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, full time

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Location: Dartford, Kent

Role Overview

The role is to carry out general multi‑trade works for planned maintenance upgrades, including kitchens and bathrooms, across the organisation’s stock. The successful candidate will be provided with a van, fuel card and all PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general multi‑trade activities such as painting, decorating, tiling, plastering and other works in accordance with One Direct’s performance specifications.
  • Complete routine carpentry and plumbing tasks as required.
  • Ensure work complies with Building Regulations Approved Documents and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to deliver the annual component replacement target.
  • Manage all jobs allocated via One Serve, meeting system requirements from start to completion.
  • Maintain, replenish and keep records of van stock materials on One Serve.
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures and processes at all times.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service standards and a work ethic that avoids complaints.
  • Carry out other duties as deemed necessary by line management, with training and supervision as required.
  • Understand and discharge Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in One Direct’s Health & Safety Policy, communicating concerns promptly.

  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience within the construction sector.
  • A good understanding of legislation in maintenance and property management.
  • Good standard of education.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self‑motivated, assertive and confident.

Desirable

  • Proven track record of problem solving, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
  • Resilience and readiness to take responsibility.
  • Housing and/or buildings knowledge.
  • NVQ2 or NVQ3 qualifications in painting and decorating, plastering or tiling.
