About the Job
We’re looking for a Night Support Worker to join our wonderful team on a part-time, permanent basis.
Salary: £13.68–£13.90 hourly rate depending on experience.
Enhancements:
- Weekend working – Time & a half
- Bank Holidays – Double time
- Night enhancement
Working Pattern: 10 hours per week.
Contract Length: Permanent.
Location: Hammonds, Bognor Regis.
Responsibilities
As a Night Support Worker, you will:
- Provide personal physical, emotional care and support during a waking night shift.
- Listen to people and treat all with respect, kindness and dignity.
- Undertake light domestic duties such as laundry and cleaning to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and safety.
- Complete regular hourly checks around the service, including checking on people’s wellbeing and building security.
- Provide safe, effective, and personalised support in helping individuals to bed and getting up in the morning and responding to their emotional and physical wellbeing during the night.
- Assist with moving and handling, e.g., helping people to walk, moving between wheelchair and chair using a hoist.
- Be on duty for up to 10‑hour shift, staying awake and able to provide appropriate care; may need to work evenings or weekends as required.
What you need to succeed
You will need to demonstrate a basic understanding of working with people with learning disabilities, dementia, other cognitive impairments, and adults with physical and sensory impairments.
Key Skills
- Ability to interpret information such as service complaints and redirect them to the appropriate person for resolution.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to provide clear guidance to a range of people, including those less able to express themselves.
- Clear basic literacy and numeracy skills to record and document activities in the care plan.
- Ability to handle expressive behaviour from people and respond sensitively to families and carers.
- Capability to build relationships with people from a variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
- Teamworking skills to complete shared tasks and deliver service to others.
Qualifications and Experience
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for recording and documenting activities.
- Diploma Level 2 in Care, or willingness to work towards, or equivalent qualification (Desirable).
- Basic understanding of safeguarding, individuals’ needs and rights.
- Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling (Desirable).
- Previous experience of working in a care setting with people who have a disability or are vulnerable (Desirable).
