About the Role
Are you passionate about Languages and able to pass this passion on to adult learners? Are you familiar with the challenges adults face engaging in learning in later life? Do you want a sessional contract teaching part time? This role may be for you!
We are looking for an Adult learning tutor to teach Italian at centres around the county for 2-4 hours per week, mostly evenings. (It may be possible to travel to more than one centre each week) You would need to be able to:
- Create an atmosphere where learners can reach their full potential and teaching and learning is outstanding
- Set goals that stretch and challenge- negotiating individual learning outcomes and content
- Meet varying needs of learners (SEND, Learning style etc) in a professional and sensitive manner
- Plan and deliver effective learning programmes for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment
- Use a variety of relevant and up to date teaching methods to enable and support differentiated learning, including the appropriate use of ICT in the classroom and online
- Promote the benefits of technology and support learners in its use
- Review and evaluate learning and teaching in order to plan for improvement
- Engage fully with opportunities for continuing professional development, at least 30 hours annually
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
About You
- A nationally approved teaching qualification, minimum Level 3 but preferably Level 5 qualification
- Relevant and approved qualification in the language or subject expertise to an appropriate level
- Recent experience teaching the language, ideally to adults and an active engagement in the subject
- Good functional skills (to at least NVQ Level 2 or above in English, Maths and ICT)
- The ability to use ICT for professional communications, using email and attachments and to access the learning platform on Moodle, both as a teaching method in class and also to support learners in between classes by adding material to your class page and promoting independent learning
- Understanding of the national professional standards in teaching and learning
- Understanding of RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) and know how to apply its principles and processes
