Radiology Department Assistant

Role Summary

Join our Radiology team as a Band 3 (Band 2 on appointment) Radiology Department Assistant and be part of a service that supports Xray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Interventional Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and DEXA scanning. You’ll mainly work at the Lymington CDC, with regular travel to Romsey and Hythe, so a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Radiology Department Assistant you will:

• Support imaging services across Xray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy and DEXA.
• Prepare patients for scans, assist with patient changing and care, and support clinical lists in the CDC and at community sites in Romsey and Hythe.
• Learn and perform key clinical skills including cannulation, flushing lines and working using aseptic techniques.
• Carry out clerical tasks such as front desk support, greeting patients, and updating patient information.
• Stand for long periods and work in busy, noisy environments with high patient and staff interaction.

Working Hours

You will work four long days each week with one weekend off (three 8:00-18:00 and one 8:00-17:30, Monday to Friday).

Key Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for travel between sites).
• Must be safe to work in MRI – i.e., no contraindicated metal implants or permanent dermal piercings.
• Flexible, proactive, with initiative and adaptable to rota changes.
• Strong team player who enjoys helping patients through their imaging journey.
• Confident using computers, willing to learn new systems.
• Only open to applicants from Hampshire & Isle of Wight NHS system (includes Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare FT, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, University Hospital Southampton FT, South Central Ambulance Service, Isle of Wight NHS FT or Hampshire Hospitals FT).
