Purpose and Scope of the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced CCTV/Drainage Investigations Operative to join a new three-person CCTV team supporting drainage surveys across the North West. You will use specialist CCTV equipment to inspect sewer and drainage networks, identify defects, and produce accurate data and reports for clients. The role is customer facing and hands‑on, combining fieldwork, manual handling, plan annotation, and precise record keeping. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality investigations on public sewer and domestic drainage systems.

Your Impact in this Position

In the short term, you will play a key part in delivering reliable survey outputs and supporting the development of a new team. Over time, you will build expertise across a range of drainage environments, strengthen client relationships, and develop your technical capability in network investigation. Longer term, this role offers a clear pathway to progression within a supportive, accredited training environment, with the opportunity to grow your responsibilities on significant infrastructure projects.

Core Capabilities Required For Success

  • Technical Survey Delivery: Proven experience in CCTV drainage investigations or a closely related role, with confidence using survey equipment and producing accurate outputs.
  • Health, Safety and Site Awareness: Working knowledge of confined spaces, highway working, and safe working practices, including manual handling and outdoor site conditions.
  • Communication and Client Service: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with clients and complete paperwork and annotations accurately.
  • Organisation and Problem Solving: Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a busy field-based environment.
  • Flexibility and Reliability: A dependable approach to work, with the willingness to adapt to early starts, late finishes, occasional Saturdays, and overtime where required.

Qualifications And Training

Essential: full UK driving licence and CCTV experience. Desirable: Confined Spaces Certificate, NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding, and OS19X. Relevant outdoor, utility, or manual labour experience will also be considered.

Work Patterns and Location

This is a field-based role with opportunities available in Irlam. The position requires flexibility, with occasional Saturday work, early starts, and late finishes.
