A secondary school in Waltham Forest is seeking a Science Academic Mentor to start in September 2026. This is an ideal opportunity for a high-achieving graduate looking to gain hands‑on experience in education before moving into teacher training or a longer-term school‑based career.
The school has placed a strong focus on improving outcomes in Science across KS3 and KS4, with a curriculum built around clear sequencing, practical understanding and frequent low‑stakes assessment to strengthen long-term retention. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all supported through structured intervention programmes, helping students close gaps in knowledge and improve exam performance.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering 1:1 and small‑group Science intervention sessions
- Supporting KS3 and KS4 students across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- Reinforcing key scientific knowledge and exam technique
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
- Supporting engagement and motivation in Science lessons
