The school has a long and proud history serving the community of Uddingston and is part of the Uddingston Grammar Learning Community. We have a building that has been extended and refurbished to provide an excellent learning environment.

Responsibilities
- Manage the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the wider community in compliance with the requirements of the statutes relating to the provision of education and the general duty of care owed to staff and pupils.
- Formulate clear aims for the school and policies to ensure their achievement within the framework of the Council’s policies.
- Ensure the communication of these aims and policies to all staff, pupils, parents and other users of the school.
- Act on behalf of the Council, as principal professional adviser to the Parent Council which supports parental engagement and family learning.
- Study for and obtain the Standard for Headship, as determined by the GTC and in accordance with The Head Teachers Education and Training Standards (Scotland) Regulations 2019, with a requirement to achieve within 30 months of taking up the appointment.

Qualifications and Requirements
- GTC Registration: It is a legal requirement for any teacher teaching in a Scottish state school to be registered with GTC Scotland.
- Qualification: Holding the Standard for Headship is a prerequisite for teachers taking up their first permanent headteacher post at Local Authority and grant-aided schools in Scotland from 1 August 2020.
- Legislative Information: This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Scotland Act 2020 and is a Regulated Role with Children and/or Adults; PVG scheme checks are required prior to a formal offer.
- Overseas Criminal Records Check: Required for applicants born outside the UK or with extended residence abroad; must be translated and documented as specified.
