What you’ll be doing

If you are looking for a rewarding part-time role that offers variety and the opportunity to make a real difference, this Library Assistant Weekend role could be perfect for you. Working across Slough’s libraries, including The Curve, Britwell, Cippenham and Langley, you will provide excellent front‑line customer service and support day‑to‑day library operations.

The role involves engaging with residents, promoting library services, and delivering events such as story and rhyme times, Lego clubs and adult activities. You must have strong communication and IT skills, a passion for books and reading, and the ability to adapt in a busy, customer‑focused environment.

Please note: This is a 6 hours weekend opportunity

  • Strong communication skills, including listening and speaking clearly.
  • Proficient IT skills for using library systems and digital resources.
  • Passion for books and reading, and the ability to promote library services.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
