About Hammonds

Here at Hammonds, we provide specialist care for maximum of 16 and up to 4 people in our respite homes. We are a service supporting adults with learning disabilities. We prioritise helping everyone have as much independence as they are able and to feel connected to the community around them.

Our Support Workers provide tailored care to the people they care for and we actively take them out to a range of activities from swimming to trips to the pub, to holidays to Euro Disney. We develop the activities around the individuals and what they are passionate or interested in. This allows for unique and personal care plans and ensures that no day is the same for our Support Workers or those we care for.

About The Job

Salary: £12.85 – £13.05 per hour. Annual salary: £24,796 – £25,185

Enhancements: Weekend working – Time & a half, Bank Holidays – Double time, Night enhancement (8pm – 10pm shifts)

Working Pattern: Part time

We have 2 positions available: 30 hours & 25 hours per week

4 weekly rota working AM, PM and weekends. This can/will be discussed at interview

Experience and Skills

Key Skills

  • You can interpret information, such as service complaints, and redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will show the ability to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from the people we support and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
  • Confident in building relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team completing shared tasks as required.

Qualifications and/ experience

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in order to record and document activities in the provider plans.
  • Basic understanding of the needs of the people we support and their rights as an individual.
  • Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling – Desirable
  • NVQ 2/Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification – Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or are vulnerable – Desirable
  • Previous experience of running group activities – Desirable
