Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for handling calls in a professional manner, responding effectively to emergency calls, alarms and incident procedures, and making calm and efficient decisions.
- Provide excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
- Maintain an efficient 24‑hour service with weekly call volumes of 10,000–13,000.
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, the public, professionals and internal users.
- Respond to emergency calls, alarms and incident procedures.
- Keep equipment, keys and system faults up‑to‑date; report defects promptly.
- Complete logs, documentation and directory updates accurately.
- Implement administrative changes to improve operational efficiency.
- Perform any other duties required to support Switchboard Services.
Position: 24 hours a week. Rotating schedule on a 9‑week pattern covering days, late, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Pay enhanced from 20:00‑08:00 Monday‑Friday and on weekends.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- IT knowledge to operate PC‑based software systems.
- Clerical experience.
Interview
- GCSE grade C or above in English.
- Knowledge, training, experience in communications.
