Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is a 64-bed mental health facility for adults located in the Kent Medical Campus. We support thousands of people across the UK and are currently recruiting full‑time Support Workers.

Position Overview

Support Workers provide essential care to inpatients, assisting nursing staff with admission, assessment, implementation and discharge. The role focuses on dignity and safety, working 38.5 hours per week on a rota that includes days, nights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Multi‑Disciplinary Team to support implementation of treatments and therapy as per service users’ care plans.
• Complement and assist qualified nurses.
• Undertake safe observations of patients, sometimes on a 1:1 basis and sometimes with other staff.
• Meet the physical and emotional needs of service users in a caring and empathic manner.
• Play an active role in maintaining physical and mental wellbeing by providing and supporting individual or group work.
• Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment.
• Work within safeguarding guidelines.
• Undertake training in de‑escalation and PMVA techniques to support patients with potentially violent or aggressive behaviours.
