Experienced Social Worker – Looked After Children

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker for the Looked After Children team. The role offers a permanent contract with a competitive salary of £41,771-£45,091 per annum, an attractive local authority pension, training and career development, and a recruitment incentive payment of £6,600.

About the Role

The Successful candidate will support children and young people in the Looked After Children team, engaging in assessment and advocacy to improve outcomes. They will be expected to work collaboratively within a small, supportive team, attend regular supervision, and participate in team meetings and informal discussions to support staff well‑being. The role supports hybrid working.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and develop care plans for looked after children.
  • Advocate for children and young people, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies and support services.
  • Participate in supervision, team meetings and informally support colleagues.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS check and Social Care Wales registration. Experience as a social worker dealing with looked after children is required.
