Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Ysgol Bro Penfro

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) within our nursery classroom for a fixed‑term contract (31 August 2027). The role will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under supervision. You will plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals or groups, monitor pupils, assess and record progress, and report on pupils’ achievement and development.

  • Monitor pupils and assess, record, and report on pupils’ achievement, progress and development.
  • Work with teachers and other staff to support classroom learning and support pupils’ development.

**Requirements**

  • Experience working with children of relevant age in a learning environment.
  • Attainment of the Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant standards or qualified teacher status or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) and subject to a DBS disclosure check.
  • Welsh language skills essential – applications may be submitted in Welsh and will not be treated less favourably than applications submitted in English.

**Salary and Contract**

  • Salary Grade 6 – £28,142 – £31,022 pro rata.
  • Contractual hours: 32.5 hours per week (term time only).
  • Fixed term until 31 August 2027 (45.8 weeks per annum).
