Position: Teaching Assistant Level 1

Start date: 1 September 2026

Salary: £25,185.00 – £25,583.00 (pro rata, term time only) plus SNA1 allowance

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, Term Time only + 5 training days

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

The Schools rely on teaching assistants to deliver support to pupils with severe and multiple learning difficulties and autism. The successful applicant will work closely with the teaching staff to maintain and promote the educational environment of the specialist school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the classroom and in learning activities, ensuring all are given individualised attention and support.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, adaptation of resources and support for pupils with SEND.
  • Implement behaviour programmes, support pupils to develop good behaviour and self‑regulation.
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small group support, monitoring pupil progress and recording outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and the multidisciplinary team to maintain the highest outcomes for pupils.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong comprehension of SEND and the learning needs of pupils.
  • Experience working with pupils with severe learning difficulties or autism is highly desirable.
  • High expectations and ability to promote learning and progress for all pupils.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; ability to share information efficiently.
