The role is based within the Focussed Intervention and Recovery Support (FIRS) and Specialist Intervention and Recovery Support (SIRS) teams and will contribute to a flexible, needs‑led pathway that allows clinicians to deliver both targeted, evidence‑based interventions and longer‑term, integrated care.

Main Responsibilities

  • The diagnosis, management and treatment of children, adolescents and families with common mental health conditions, including taking part in assessments, medical reviews and liaising with GPs, schools and social care.
  • Providing timely written correspondence to relevant professionals documenting assessments, ongoing management and progress using Trust IT and the clinical records system.
  • Collaborating with other teams and agencies to ensure smooth and timely transfer into and out of the service, developing close working relationships with staff from other pathways within Buckinghamshire CAMHS and linking with GPs, schools and social care.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of improved clinical services as outlined in the National Service Framework for Mental Health.

  • Participating in the Buckinghamshire CAMHS medical day duty rota on a regular basis.
  • Cross‑covering with other medical staff for annual leave, study leave and brief periods of sickness absence.

FIRS and SIRS Team Responsibilities

  • FIRS offers a range of psychological interventions and psychiatric management focused on a specific condition (e.g., medications and CBT for OCD, EMDR for PTSD).
  • SIRS offers more integrated multidisciplinary interventions, providing systemic therapy and psychotherapy where appropriate, allowing young people to move fluidly between teams based on the complexity of their needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • General medical qualification.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • At least four years of full‑time postgraduate training (or equivalent), with at least two years in a specialty training programme related to psychiatry, or equivalent experience and competencies.

Benefits

  • 27 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 33 days with continuous service.
  • NHS discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers.
  • Competitive pension scheme.
  • Lease car scheme and cycle to work scheme.
  • Employee assistance programme and mental health first aiders.
  • Staff networking and support groups hosted by the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion team.
