Key Responsibilities
Facility Setup & Management
- Lead the setup of a new compounding facility, ensuring it meets industry standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations to guarantee efficiency and quality.
Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with MHRA, GPhC, and other regulatory bodies.
- Manage the application and approval process for all necessary licenses, including the production of “specials.”
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, and manage a skilled team of pharmacy professionals.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to maintain a high-performing team.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Develop, implement, and maintain all SOPs to ensure consistent, high-quality production.
- Regularly review and update procedures in line with regulatory changes and best practices.
Research & Development
- Drive innovation through the research and development of new pharmaceutical formulations.
- Collaborate with prescribers to design and recommend tailored compounding solutions for patients.
Quality Control
- Oversee quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and address any deviations or risks.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Demonstrable experience of developing a new clinical/commercial compounding facility
- Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent).
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Proven experience in compounding pharmacy.
Preferred
- Background as an industrial pharmacist.
- Experience with the production of “specials.”
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks in the UK.
