We use our own VR experience to engage young people in exciting topics related to physics. We want to reach schools across the Midlands to increase equitable access to extracurricular STEM activities. Can you work with us to make this happen?
What difference will you make?
By leading on this, you’ll be directly contributing to our goals:
- Educate students aged 14–18 on the real‑world applications of physics using VR
- Increase equitable access to super‑curricular STEM activities in disadvantaged communities
- Show young people that physics can lead to exciting careers beyond academia
Qualifications and expectations
- Experience in outreach coordination, ideally within an education or community‑facing organisation (professional or voluntary)
- Confidence approaching school and events teams and building relationships
- Strong written communication skills for drafting emails
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to commit roughly 3–7 hours per week, with flexibility around your schedule
- Passion for education, equity in STEM, or making technology accessible to young people
Hybrid
Note: This role is hybrid, allowing a mix of remote and onsite work.
What will you be doing?
Candela is a volunteer‑run nonprofit and we are growing our operations in 2026. This role is about helping us expand. Working with our brilliant team, you will:
- Develop an outreach strategy—work with our Directors and Marketing team to identify target schools and events that align with our mission
- Build school relationships across the Midlands—engage with school staff and leadership to establish lasting partnerships that support repeat opportunities to reach students
- Coordinate bookings and logistics—manage session bookings and liaise with our outreach team to ensure we have the resources to deliver sessions
Note: As we’re a small team, you’ll have real ownership over this area. You can shape the approach based on your own experience and networks.
