Support Worker – Full time
Pay rate: £14.00 per hour flat rate (Weekly or Monthly pay available)
Shift pattern: Day shifts – 06:00am – 18:00pm & Night shifts – 18:00pm – 06:00am. You must be able to work 36 hours per week on days and night shifts. A full UK manual driving licence is essential for this role.
Successful candidates from the first‑stage telephone interview will be required to attend a mandatory face‑to‑face Assessment Day, scheduled for Wednesday 13th May 2026 in Hull.
We’re looking for calm, compassionate support workers to join a caring team in Hull, supporting a bright and gentle young person who experiences the world in their own unique way. They live at home with a loving family and benefit from patient, respectful support with the impact of a brain injury and physical and learning disabilities. They enjoy sensory‑rich and calming experiences such as time in sensory rooms, listening to soft music, colouring, swimming with support, and spending time outdoors on sunny days. Family life is very important to them and brings comfort, joy, and connection.
What You’ll Do
- Provide 2:1 person‑centred support within the family home.
- Assist with all personal care needs, including incontinence care and maintaining comfort throughout the day.
- Carry out hoist transfers safely and confidently as part of daily routines.
- Manage PEG feeding and follow all care plans for nutrition and medication.
- Support with wheelchair positioning, mobility needs, and safe handling.
- Engage in meaningful activities, such as listening to stories, painting together, crafts, sensory play, and exploring musical instruments.
- Create a calm, reassuring environment that supports emotional wellbeing and reduces anxiety.
- Communicate using non‑verbal cues, showing patience, understanding, and consistency.
- Work collaboratively with the family and wider care team to ensure high‑quality, continuous support.
What You’ll Need to Bring
- A kind, patient, and reliable approach, with a genuine passion for supporting someone with complex needs.
- Experience or confidence working with individuals with Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy, learning disabilities, or similar care needs.
- Moving & Handling knowledge, including hoist use (training can be provided if needed).
- Understanding of PEG feeding procedures or willingness to be trained.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a 2:1 support team.
- A commitment to safeguarding, dignity, and person‑centred care.
- Willingness to engage in creative, sensory, and musical activities.
- Reliability, professionalism, and respect for the family home environment.
