The Role:
As the National Sales Manager, you will lead and grow our Commercial & Industrial ventilation specification sales business across the UK. You will manage, develop, and inspire a team of six field-based Sales Executives while delivering ambitious growth objectives and strengthening our market position.
The NSM will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with consulting engineers, M&E consultants, contractors, developers and key distribution partners to increase specification activity and secure project sales opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a national sales strategy for commercial and industrial ventilation products and solutions.
- Drive specification sales growth through engagement with M&E consultants, specifiers, architects, developers, and main contractors.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across key sectors including healthcare, education, commercial offices, industrial, retail, hospitality, and public sector projects.
- Manage the sales pipeline from specification through to project conversion and order placement.
- Deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth aligned with company objectives.
- Promote ventilation solutions at design stage to achieve preferred or sole specification status.
- Build strong technical relationships with consulting engineers and project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction project activity and influence decision-making throughout project lifecycles.
- Coordinate with estimating, technical, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support value engineering discussions while protecting commercial margins.
- Lead, coach and develop the sales team to drive sales across the brand.
- Establish clear KPIs, performance targets and development plans for the sales team.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture focused on accountability, collaboration and customer engagement.
- Conduct regular sales reviews, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Develop strategic partnerships with national contractors, consultants, and distribution groups.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers while expanding market share.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence, competitor analysis, and customer feedback to support product development and business planning.
- Collaborate with marketing teams on campaigns, CPD presentations and specification initiatives.
- Maintain strong awareness of industry regulations, sustainability standards and ventilation compliance requirements.
Requirements:
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in commercial and industrial HVAC or ventilation sales.
- Strong background in specification sales within the building services or M&E sector.
- Experience managing national or regional sales teams.
- Demonstrated success in developing consultant and contractor relationships.
- Strong understanding of project-based sales cycles within construction environments.
- Knowledge of commercial ventilation systems, air movement products, indoor air quality solutions, and HVAC applications.
- Understanding of relevant UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance and sustainability requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and construction drawings.
