Overview

Job Title: Primary Teacher

Location: Smallfield, near Horley, Surrey

Hours: 40 hours per week — Term Time only. Start time 8:15am; Finish times: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4:45pm; Tuesday 5:00pm; Friday 4:00pm.

We are seeking a teacher with experience at primary level and with SEN students to join a wonderful school near Horley, Surrey. The school supports children aged 6-11 years with communication difficulties typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism.

Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
  • To work collaboratively with other staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • To set, monitor and review personalised targets that optimise learning for each student.
  • To monitor, assess, review and report on student progress to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings in line with school policies.
  • To maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.
  • To develop lesson plans, analysing and reflecting on outcomes.

Qualifications

  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification; in-service training preferable but UQT or Tutor considered.
  • General primary teacher with possible specialisms; experience in an alternative provision / PRU is desirable.
  • Ability to teach a range of subjects.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profiles.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Experience managing a range of behaviour approaches, including behaviours that challenge.
