Job Title: Supervising Social Worker – Devon, South West
Location: Devon, South West England
Salary: £40,000 per annum (DOE) + PRP after probation + Out of hours pay (£150/week)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join a leading specialist provider supporting foster carers across Devon and the South West. The role will work closely with carers to ensure they are “Ofsted‑ready” and meet statutory KPIs while maintaining a child‑centred approach. Key Responsibilities
- Support foster carers to meet statutory requirements and demonstrate positive outcomes for children
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential foster carers in line with regulatory standards
- Facilitate and deliver training to foster families, ensuring compliance with the Training Support and Development Standards
- Attend recruitment events, open days and community activities to attract new foster carers
- Maintain a child‑centred approach, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at all times
- Work flexibly outside of office hours to support carers and children, including participation in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota
- Develop and grow a cohort of foster carers, undertaking FormF assessments as needed
- Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure placements meet children’s needs
- Keep up‑to‑date with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice standards
Requirements
- A three‑year undergraduate degree or a two‑year postgraduate degree in social work, with SWE registration
- Extensive knowledge of safeguarding, The Children Act1989, Fostering Regulations2011 and related legislation
- Experience in undertaking FormF assessments and working with foster carers
- Ability to work flexibly outside of standard hours, including evenings and weekends when required
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop solutions
- Commitment to maintaining family and community placements where in the child’s best interests
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across rural areas, with flexibility for journeys up to 90 minutes per carer
