Salary: £28,853.57 per annum
We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time‑bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of core finance processes in a collaborative and well‑governed environment.
Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you’ll help ensure financial records are accurate, transactions are processed efficiently, and month‑end processes run seamlessly. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance career who is keen to develop their skills and grow within a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process journals, accruals, and prepayments in line with finance procedures
- Support month‑end activities, including reconciliations and ledger maintenance
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records and audit trails
- Manage and respond to finance inbox queries, resolving or escalating as needed
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance team
- Assist with reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Skills And Experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Desirable
- Experience in a finance or accounts assistant role
- Familiarity with finance systems (e.g. Oracle Fusion or similar ERP systems)
- AAT qualification (or currently working towards one)
