About the Role

Children’s Social Worker in the Children’s First Contact Service. The role involves working within Early Help, Section 17 and Section 47 frameworks to process daily contacts, conclude relevant outcomes, liaise with multi‑agency partners and participate in forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process contacts received into the team on a daily basis.
  • Conclude outcomes and plan onward actions.
  • Engage with multi‑agency partners and take part in multi‑agency forums.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policy, procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Assess and record a child’s needs, applying evidence‑based practice to justify decisions.
  • Deliver consistent, energy‑driven services that put children at the heart of decision‑making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Social Worker with a degree or recognised qualification, registered with Social Work England.
  • Completed the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and at least 2 years of post‑ASYE UK‑registered social worker experience.
  • Experience in child protection, CFCS/MASH or similar services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathetic approach and clear communication.

Competence / Skills

  • Safeguarding knowledge and ability to safeguard vulnerable people.
  • Capability to undertake assessments using evidence‑based practice.
  • Understanding of statutory functions, local policy and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a high‑pace team, delivering consistency and passion.
