Gas Support Officer

Deliver high‑quality technical information and gas safety advice to stakeholders and the public, ensuring safety standards are maintained and improved. Promote the Gas Safe Register across the gas industry, associated trades, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Respond efficiently to telephone, written and e‑mail enquiries on gas‑related building industries and the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS), providing accurate, clear answers.
  • Provide technical support and advice to other Gas Safe Register departments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry documents.
  • Research, compile, write and edit technical articles, publications and bulletins, maintaining technical accuracy and consistency.
  • Cover for Technical Officers in other areas when required to maintain company service standards.
  • Continuously review and update technical information in line with industry changes and technical standards.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Minimum 8 years working experience within the gas industry.
  • Essential: City and Guilds / NVQ in gas service engineering.
  • Essential: Proof of competence (ACS assessments).
  • Essential: Broad knowledge of the gas industry.
  • Essential: Excellent understanding of health & safety, building regulations and other legislation.
  • Other: Excellent customer‑service skills.
  • Other: Ability to gather data and conduct research for effective decision making.
  • Other: Strong prioritising, coordination, time‑management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Other: Good knowledge and understanding of computer‑based systems.
