We believe violence is preventable, not inevitable.
Do you have a passion for developing young people and supporting communities?
Are you experienced at bringing people together and developing relationships with others to help bring about change?
Are you passionate about making a difference and understand that young people, families and communities must be the forefront of solutions to tackle violence?
There is a rare but exciting opportunity for a Youth Participation Lead to join London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).
London’s VRU is focused on stopping violence before it happens through an approach that is rooted in prevention and early intervention.
We are a team of specialists who use our expertise to work in partnership with communities, councils, the NHS, public health, the police, schools and colleges and charities, to co‑ordinate efforts and bring about change.
The VRU is a voice and champion for young people, families and communities.
We are looking for a Youth Participation Lead to join us in supporting some of our developing strands of work in relation to the management and development of our Young People’s Action Group (YPAG) and our work on Violence Against Women and Girls.
Young People’s Action Group (YPAG) – “Nothing about us without us”
A core value of the VRU is to listen and promote the voices of young people. In that spirit, we fund the YPAG, recruiting 10 young people each year to embed young people’s perspectives into our work. The aim of the YPAG is to amplify the voices of young Londoners whilst supporting them to lead change.
The YPAG’s work is structured around themes including parenting, policing, communication, school and youth work. Comprised of people aged 15 to 25 years, the group gets involved with activities, including panel discussions, consultations, service reviews, and has the freedom to propose and lead on projects themselves.
