Summary

Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – Rossendale Area

Day-to‑day responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with various SEND, ensuring their educational and emotional needs are met.
  • Work with children who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to facilitate a supportive learning environment.
  • Support children with specific conditions such as ADHD, PDA, ASD, and EBSA, adapting approaches to meet their unique needs.
  • Assist children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), including non‑verbal children, to enhance their communication skills.
  • Implement and record interventions as outlined in EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Engage with pupils during a 30‑minute segment of the 1‑hour lunchtime, either by supervising or running a lunchtime club or intervention.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in providing 1:1 support for children with SEND.
  • Experience working with children who have experienced ACEs.
  • Familiarity with conditions such as ADHD, PDA, ASD, and EBSA.
  • Capability to support children with SLCN, including non‑verbal communication.
  • Experience working with EHCPs and IEPs, including delivering and documenting interventions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs within the school environment.
  • Strong commitment to enhancing the educational experience of children with significant needs.
