Starfyn Education are looking for a passionate and hardworking SEND LSA for one of our clients based in Wimbledon. The school caters for students with a variety of different needs, from complex physical disabilities, medical needs, speech and language difficulties, as well as vision and multi-sensory impairment.

Our client is looking for a passionate and hardworking member to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching professionals, helping every child achieve their full potential, allowing them to flourish, engage, and prepare for life as active citizens. The working environment requires high expectations of learners. You will work with an exciting curriculum, supporting students to stay engaged and create a fun learning environment.

The students at this school are between 2-19 years of age. The staff work together to promote a caring, positive, and professional environment for their students and use their enthusiasm and positivity to make the school a happy and exciting environment.

Role

Days Required – Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 4 pm (Full time). Pay – £85 – £95 per day (weekly pay). Employment Type – Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract).

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working within a School, College or Provision.
  • Childcare experience – working with children and young people, especially those with MSI/PMLD/ASD.
  • Experience working with Multi Disabled visually impaired (MDVI), manual handling, Makaton or BSL desirable.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine caring attitude.
  • Good communication with peers and support staff.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, imaginative and caring approach to children with Special Educational needs & disabilities.
  • A willingness to learn and genuine enthusiasm to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer support for the school’s students before, during and after lessons.
  • Assist students with their understanding and participation in tasks.
  • Help promote each student’s love of learning.
  • Actively participate in team meetings.
  • Always follow safeguarding regulations.
  • Support individuals’ needs, including assisting with a wide range of medical and occasionally personal care tasks and providing physical support where needed (training will be provided).
  • Work either on a 1:1 or group basis to support learning.
  • Inspire and engage children with a wide range of additional learning needs.
