Job Description

Aqovia is looking for a Software QA Engineer to join our agile software development team. You will work on fast-paced development projects for our own products as well as client projects. Accomplished in functional testing, you will be motivated to develop your skills in automation, DevOps, and contributing to the whole software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain automated end-to-end tests
  • Collaborate with users and other team members to write acceptance criteria and test plans for user stories
  • Carry out functional and exploratory testing of user interfaces and APIs
  • File clear, reproducible bug reports
  • Establish and maintain test cases, test environments and test data
  • Manage software merges and releases
  • Proficiency in testing APIs, especially RESTful web services
  • Proficiency in querying an SQL database
  • Analyse and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with and influence others to improve the overall design
  • Candidates must possess excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively manage business interactions and maintain a professional tone in all commercial correspondence

The ideal candidate will have

  • Experience of working in a professional and agile software development environment
  • Relevant degree or equivalent higher professional qualification
  • A flair for breaking things and diagnosing problems
  • Experience of scripting web automation using tools such as Playwright or Selenium WebDriver
  • Experience of API testing tools such as Insomnia
  • Experience of web diagnostic and debug tools such as Chrome/Firefox
  • Experience with load testing such as JMeter
  • Experience of basic Windows and Unix systems administration, including scripting
  • Understanding of RESTful HTTP services, including API description languages such as OpenAPI (Swagger)
  • Understanding of Cloud application development, especially Microsoft Azure
  • Experience of working with source control systems, especially Git in a team context
  • Understanding of messaging and event-based application architectures
