Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineering Manager to lead our client’s Production Support Group. The ideal candidate will be a key driver in continuous improvement and process optimisation within our manufacturing operations. This role involves leading a team to enhance long-term performance targets through innovation, process development, and management. The manager will report directly to the Site Leader.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and motivate the Production Support Group (PSG) to achieve company goals and KPI targets.
- Generate, monitor, and present data to ensure processes are controlled and within required tolerances, using this data to initiate preventative actions.
- Encourage the team to develop process improvement ideas that reduce costs, increase production rates, and minimize waste.
- Manage the implementation of new product introductions (NPI) to ensure a seamless transition to mainstream production.
- Establish and maintain an effective Project Management Process for NPI, continuous improvement projects, and capital investments.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to solve real-time processing issues and establish permanent solutions.
- Support the sales team and other departments by providing technical advice and solutions for engineering-related issues.
- Stay current on the latest developments in the Precision Engineering sector and develop the technical understanding of the PSG team.
- Conduct regular appraisals with the team to address weaknesses and promote strengths.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the manufacturing team’s annual goals and strategy.
- Ensure the team applies and enforces all company policies, including those related to safety, health, and quality.
Required Qualifications
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or a related field) or extensive experience in Process Engineering is required.
- Experience: Candidates must have practical experience in project management and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
- Skills: Must be an analytical thinker and a data-driven problem solver with strong Microsoft Excel skills. The ability to justify and prove improvement ideas based on measurable savings is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) or similar documents.
- Knowledge of chemical-related manufacturing processes.
