Social Work Operational Manager (Alcohol & Drug Recovery Services)
This is a key leadership role within Adult Services, responsible for the operational and strategic management of our integrated Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership for statutory social work within the service, including chairing Adult Support and Protection Case Conferences.
- Lead a large multidisciplinary team and ensure high standards of practice, governance, and service delivery.
- Manage service planning, clinical and care governance, workforce development, performance management, partnership working, and effective use of resources across Renfrewshire Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde systems.
- Ensure effective partnership working and deliver outcomes with other public sector organisations.
- Contribute to successful service projects and improvements, effective budget management and accountability for service delivery.
- Apply knowledge of government policies and national objectives relating to Social Work and understand professional social work practice and major issues facing the profession.
- Collaborate with the needs of people with complex alcohol and/or drug issues, carers, and families; deliver quality recovery‑focused service.
- Use legislation and best practice to influence decision making; analyse options; produce reports on complex issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience of leading and managing a complex service or team in line with professional standards and codes of practice.
- Senior leadership experience within a professional Social Work/Social Care environment.
- Record of effective partnership working and delivering outcomes with other public sector organisations.
- Experience of effective budget management and accountability for service delivery.
- Knowledge of government policies and national objectives relating to Social Work and understanding of professional social work practice.
- Clear understanding and knowledge of the needs of people with complex alcohol and/or drug issues, carers and families; experience delivering a quality recovery‑focused service; comprehensive understanding of Adult services in a local authority setting.
- Working knowledge of legislation and best practice impacting social work practice.
- Analytical skills to evaluate complex situations; effective written and communication skills; ability to produce reports on complex issues.
- Degree level qualification (Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSw) or equivalent) and evidence of continuing professional development.
- Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration.
