JOB DETAILS JOB BAND: BCONTRACT TYPE: 6 Month Fixed-term Contract, Full-timeDEPARTMENT: BBC Studios FinanceLOCATION: MediaCityUK – SalfordPROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £36,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. As an Assistant Production Accountant, you’ll support the financial control of a production or slate of productions – managing expenses, payments, and accurate cost reporting. You’ll learn from experienced Production Accountants while contributing to work that reaches audiences across the UK and beyond.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:Record transactions in the production’s books of prime entry and general ledger.Assist in preparing weekly cost reports and maintaining accurate production records.Maintain purchase order logs, ensure correct processing of transactions, and liaise with suppliers.Support the booking and payment of freelance crews and manage Supporting Artist and Walk‑on payment processes.Assist with bank operations, reconciliations, Barclaycard management, and Section 16 reporting where required.Ensure compliance with BBC guidelines, maintain audit trails, and manage the Production Asset Register.Contribute to general duties within the production area and support team collaboration and self‑development.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:Vocational training or experience within a financial or accountancy field.Understanding of basic accounting principles, controls, and compliance requirements.Ability to communicate financial information clearly to finance and non‑finance colleagues.Strong numeracy, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other core digital tools.DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:Experience working in a production environment within a media organisation.Progress toward a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.We appreciate your interest in this position and understand how important this opportunity is to you.
